Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Criteria for Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Faculty, planners, and managers who affect the content of a CPD activity are required to disclose their own financial relationships with commercial interests related to the content of this activity. Financial benefits are usually associated with roles such as employment, management position, independent contractor (including contracted research), consulting, speaking and teaching, membership on advisory committees or review panels, board membership, and other activities from which remuneration is received, or expected.
This policy supports the Lysosomal Disease Summit to manage risk, and safeguard the organisation’s reputation and the trust placed in it by attendees. The policy also supports the Lysosomal Disease Summit’s compliance with any legislative and statutory obligations.
Managing conflicts of interest demonstrates our commitment to good governance, ethical conduct, and uncompromised decision making.
By declaring all Real, Apparent, and Potential Conflicts of Interest from Moderators, Speakers, and Planners, it is the goal of the Lysosomal Disease Summit to prevent, identify, and manage any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to ensure that any decision making on its behalf is made solely in its interests, and is not, or perceived to be, undermined or influenced by any other allegiances or interests (direct or indirect) of the decision makers individually or collectively. This includes decisions in relation to the listing of learning content and the compliance of subscribers with their CPD Program requirements and the registration standard.
The Lysosomal Disease Summit will manage conflicts of interest by:
- avoiding conflicts of interest where possible;
- disclosing to the attendees any personal or business interests that may give rise to actual or perceived conflicts of interest and ensure they are managed appropriately; and
- ensuring any personal or financial interests, including those of any associated person, do not conflict with their ability to present educational content in an impartial manner.
An accredited ACCME/ACPE/ANCC provider, or CPD Home, is NOT an agent for a manufacturer, whereas a company acting for a manufacturer in a promotional activity IS an agent.
Only include research funds received directly from industry; grants to your institution are reportable only when you are the person or named investigator on the grant.
